HomeWater Limited Warranty

The warranty applies to HomeWater products purchased and used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Coverage and duration vary by product type as detailed in the original warranty.

PRODUCTS COVERED

Under-Counter (UC) Filters

Coverage Duration: 3 years (automatically extended with an active maintenance plan).

Covered Components:

  • Filter housing
  • Filter distributor
  • Filter lid
  • Connector hoses
  • Elbows / MIPs
  • Angle stop valve

Exclusions:

  • Improper installation or maintenance (unless installed by a certified HomeWater technician).
  • Damage from freezing, excessive pressure, unsafe water quality, or improper use.
  • Dropped units or broken MIPs due to collision.
  • Replacement filters, commercial/industrial use, unauthorized modifications, or repairs.
  • Damage from non-potable water, fire, flood, or natural disasters.
  • Labor costs for installation or replacement.
  • O-rings removed, leaks caused by customer after filter changes.
  • Legal fees

 

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems

Coverage Duration: 5 years (automatically extended with an active maintenance plan).

Covered Components:

  • Filter housing
  • Filter distributor
  • Filter lid
  • Bracket
  • Connector hoses
  • Elbows / MIPs
  • Angle stop valve
  • Storage tank
  • RO faucet

Exclusions:

  • Same exclusions as UC systems, plus: Breakage of stemmed MIPA.

 

Upstream Water Filter & Conditioner

Coverage Duration: 10 years (automatically extended with an active maintenance plan).

Covered Components:

  • Whole-home filter tank
  • Upstream distributor
  • Prefilter housing with PRV lid
  • Bypass valve
  • MIPs, locking clips, housing wrench
  • AR bracket (if applicable)
  • Internal distributor components

Exclusions:

  • Improper installation or maintenance (unless installed by a certified HomeWater technician).
  • Damage from freezing, excessive pressure, unsafe water quality, or improper use.
  • Dropped units or broken MIPs due to collision.
  • Replacement filters, commercial/industrial use, unauthorized modifications, or repairs.
  • Damage from non-potable water, fire, flood, or natural disasters.
  • Labor costs for installation or replacement.
  • O-rings removed, leaks caused by customer after filter changes.
  • Legal fees.
  • Media (e.g., carbon, KDF, etc.)
  • Poor water quality outside specifications (high iron, sediment, chlorine if untreated).
  • Outdoor installations without protection.
  • Tampering, modifications, or unauthorized repairs.

 

Upstream Softener & UV Light

Coverage Duration: 10 years (automatically extended with an active maintenance plan).

Covered Components:

  • Whole-home filter tank
  • Upstream distributor
  • Prefilter housing with PRV lid
  • Bypass valve
  • MIPs, locking clips, housing wrench
  • AR bracket (if applicable)
  • Internal distributor components
  • Control valve, salt bin, electric components, power cord
  • Drain line, flow meter

Exclusions:

  • Same exclusions as above, plus: Media (e.g., carbon, KDF) or resin Power surges or electronic damage

 

WORKMANSHIP, INSTALLATION, & SERVICE

What is covered:

·        Defects in materials or workmanship during installation by HomeWater:

  • Leaks at connection points caused by improper sealing/torque.
  • Mounting or bracing issues with housings, tanks, or equipment.
  • Improper electrical connections (for UV or electronic valves).
  • Faulty drain or brine line installation.
  • Programming/control head misconfiguration during setup.
  • Corrections required due to failure to follow instructions.

What is not covered:

  • Manufacturer defects (covered under product warranty).
  • Damage from tampering, freezing (unless weatherized), excessive pressure, power surges, or acts of nature.
  • Lack of maintenance or failure to follow service intervals.
  • Filter/media replacement, salt refills, or routine maintenance.
  • Plumbing/electrical issues unrelated to HomeWater installation.
  • Equipment installed by third parties or relocated.

Service Coverage

  • Warranty covers service and maintenance.
  • Rental customers outside service areas: reimbursement up to $100 for a third-party plumber/handyman (with prior approval and proof of invoice).

 

Limitation of Liability

Maximum Liability Cap: HomeWater’s total liability, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, arising out of or related to the product, installation, service, or warranty, shall not exceed two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) in the aggregate.

Exclusion of Certain Damages: To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeWater shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages, including but not limited to:

·        Loss of use of the product or related systems.

·        Damage to property beyond the installed equipment.

·        Loss of income, revenue, business, or profits.

Costs of substitute products, services, or equipment.

Water Damage Disclaimer: HomeWater is not responsible for water damage to flooring, cabinetry, fixtures, or other household/property elements arising from leaks, improper maintenance, customer modifications, or failure to follow operating instructions. Customers are responsible for ensuring the installation site includes appropriate drainage and/or water shutoff access.

Third-Party Work: This warranty and liability coverage do not apply to work performed by any third-party plumber, handyman, or installer not authorized by HomeWater.

Customer Responsibility: Customer is solely responsible for:

·        Maintaining water quality within system specifications.

·        Ensuring proper electrical supply and surge protection for electronic components.

·        Maintaining adequate home insurance coverage for property damage.

No Extension of Warranty: Repairs, replacements, or service under this warranty do not extend or restart the original warranty period.

Federal and State Law Provisions: Warranty terms, including coverage, exclusions, and consumer rights, may vary depending on state law governing your purchase or residence. This warranty is provided in accordance with federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) and applicable state laws. Where state law provides greater consumer protection, such provisions shall apply.

No Service Restrictions: Use of third-party repair services or aftermarket parts will not void this warranty. HomeWater does not require that warranty service or repairs be performed by authorized technicians or with HomeWater parts exclusively. Customers may use qualified third-party service providers or equivalent replacement parts. However, this warranty does not cover damage or defects resulting from improper installation, repair, or maintenance performed by anyone other than HomeWater or its authorized technicians.”

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

How to Make a Claim

To submit a warranty claim, the following conditions must be met:

  • Proof of purchase (receipt or invoice).
  • Filter must have been installed and maintained according to the user manual.
  • Water pressure, temperature, and water quality must be within specified limits.

 

Remedies Offered

Depending on the situation, HomeWater may provide the following remedies:

  • Repair or replacement of defective parts (if within our service territory).
  • Replacement of the entire unit (rare, but possible in cases of early failure).
  • Shipping of replacement parts or components.
  • Labor costs are not covered unless explicitly stated in writing.

Refunds

Refunds are at HomeWater’s sole discretion. Returned products will be inspected for evidence of improper use, damage, or incorrect installation.
